Oath Taking Ceremony

This ceremony was organized on May 23,2018 in Bio-auditorium, where Dr. Muhammad Ansar (Patron BAQI) took oath from newly elected Cabinet

It gives me immense pleasure in recording this message for the website of QAU Biochemists Association (BAQI). My pleasure is two-fold since I am the Vice-Chancellor of this institution and at the same time being Biochemist, I share the same subject. Biochemistry is a very exciting subject and is considered extremely important in understanding the other areas of Biology. The understanding and the techniques developed by the Biochemists have been extremely useful for research and applications in all spheres of Biology and apllied sciences. This website will help to promote objectives of BAQI and will serve as a vehicle to bring more and more members to its domain.

I wish BAQI and students associated with it, a success in promoting this important science to play its due role. read more

It is the Association of Biochemists comprising the current students, passed (Alumni) and teachers (serving or retired) to have strong professional, educational and social terms to promote Science and Scientific Culture. It is also meant to honor and recognize the achievements of the members.Founded by department of biochemistry QAU islamabad ,registered on 18th march 2011 and innuagrated on 2nd june 2011.

Our Department has produced a number of leading researchers and analysts, performing their role in different Sectors and we are interacting with them to fill the gap and to provide a bridge between our Ex-students and Present students by providing important and latest information and chronology of all major areas of Biochemistry/Molecular Biology in the country and all over the world.

About Biochemistry Department

Department of Biochemistry was established in 2006 with aims to provide a stimulating and diverse research and training environment of international standing within which important and exciting areas of modern Biochemistry and Molecular Biology can be investigated at the molecular level, encompassing both structural and functional approaches. Biochemistry is the admitting Department for two years M.Sc. degree in Biochemistry. One hundred and two students are currently registered for this program. One hundred and three students registered for M.Phil and 48 scholars for PhD degrees are currently being supervised within the Department.
The Department pursues the research aims through up-to-date equipment and state-of-the-art technologies, the recruitment of high-caliber staff, maintenance of industrial contacts, and the fostering of close links and collaborations with international scientific community. The Department's research is grouped under the headings of several broad programs including Clinical Biochemistry, Enzymology, Nutritional and Metabolic Biochemistry, Plant Biochemistry & Molecular Biology, Molecular Biology of Human Diseases, Proteomics, Genomics and Cell Biology. Specialist research facilities currently available include Protein purification (HPLC) and characterization (UV/visible spectrophotometry, analytical ultracentrifugation); gas chromatograph, growth room, cell culture, DNA sequencing facility, atomic absorption, cold room and low temperature freezers.

Excellent research facilities and a research-oriented faculty allow our Department to offer broadly based programs of graduate and postgraduate study where students can acquire a thorough and diverse background in Biochemistry and Molecular Biology.

Graduate students of the Department of Biochemistry are serving Biochemistry, Molecular Biology, Biotechnology and Bioinformatics Departments/Centers in both public and private sector Universities and other Research Centers in the country and abroad. Students graduated from the Department are also working in Clinical and DNA-based diagnostic laboratories throughout the country. Recently established Medical Universities in the country are offering faculty positions to graduates of this Department to establish new Molecular Biology based teaching and research programs.
